I've had a facelift, what should I do with the scars? Should they be treated in any special way?
A week after removing the stitches at the earliest, you can start applying gentle pressure during massages on the scars and your face. Your surgeon will also provide individual recommendations for special creams and gels to help with scar healing and minimization. We will instruct each client on how and when to use these products.
How long does a facelift take? Is it a lengthy surgery?
The duration of the procedure under general anaesthesia is approximately 3-4 hours.
How long is the recovery time after a facelift?
The recovery and healing time is individual. After a facelift, the client stays in the clinic for 2-3 days and is then discharged for home care. The final healing and removal of stitches are usually done within two weeks after the procedure. This period is determined by the overall healing process. Full physical activity can typically be resumed 4-6 weeks after the surgery.
How to behave after a facelift?
After surgery, a 7-10 day rest period at home is necessary. For the first 4-5 days, do not bend over sharply or turn your head. All movement must be done very slowly. Leave the elastic bandage on for 4-5 days after surgery. Then you can wash your head - use normal shampoo, let your hair dry freely, do not use a hair dryer. Then wash your head regularly every day for the next 4 days. Always be careful around the ears where the stitches are. After washing the head, further healing takes place without bandages. Use a scarf or elastic halter at night.
When will I see the final result of the facelift?
The appearance and healing of scars after surgery is very individual, at first the scars are pink and gradually fade. Massage will speed up the healing process, but it often takes up to a year for the scars to stabilize, especially on the auricle. You will be regularly invited for post-operative check-ups where we will ensure that the result is as you expect.
Can I start wearing makeup after the facelift?
You can use decorative cosmetics 14 days after the facelift.
How many times can a facelift be repeated? Alternatively, after how long?
It is possible to repeat the facelift, it is not possible to say in general after how long, it is always necessary to make an individual assessment, sometimes it is possible to repeat this operation in 10 years, sometimes after a longer period of time.
If this operation is repeated, for example every 5 years, there are also such cases, then the skin loses its thickness through repeated tension and the contours of the face are not as natural.
